The adhesion assay

Using a standardised method, microorganisms are applied directly to the materials to be tested.

Afterwards, the amount of microorganisms adhered to the test sample is determined in comparison to a reference.

If bacterial binding to the test surface is lower than the reference, the sample is antiadhesive.

This example shows the reduction in bacterial binding after different pre-treatments
